Request object error 'ASP 0104 : 80004005' - Operation not Allowed

This error is raised at IIS level on BeginRequest notification, when RequestFilteringModule checks incoming request for its validity.

Solution

Check maxAllowedContentLength or AspMaxRequestEntityAllowed of IIS requestLimits section. You can do it using appcmd application values requestfiltering.requestlimits.maxallowedcontentlength and ASPSection.Limits.MaxRequestEntityAllowed value.

Set the limit on IIS level

Set 100MB limit for IIS

%windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd set config /section:requestfiltering /requestlimits.maxallowedcontentlength:100000000

Set the limit on one site level

Set 1GB limit for site X64/upload

%windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd set config X64/upload /section:requestfiltering /requestlimits.maxallowedcontentlength:1000000000

Remove the limit from site level

Remove the limit from the X64/upload site

%windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd set config X64/upload /section:requestfiltering /-requestlimits.maxallowedcontentlength
